The Irish founder of the online and retail betting group Boylesports, John Boyle, gave some interesting insights into his plans for the future in an interview with the Irish Independent this week, saying that he felt the company had reached peak expansion in Ireland and therefore needed to expand into the United Kingdom.
In addition to its online operations, Boylesports has almost 200 retail outlets in Ireland.
One of the ways to quickly achieve a UK presence which Boylesports is considering is to make a major acquisition of a British operator, and Boyle revealed that his managers are currently looking at potential targets.
“A big push into the UK would be one of the next steps for the business. And if it happens it will be done in scale. Now that we are debt free we would have backing from the banks,” Boyle told the newspaper, adding that the company is currently moving its operational centre to Gibraltar.
Boyle is also seeking a committed chief executive to run the business and further his ambitions for growth and expansion into new markets.
