Local police and Malaysia’s Special Task Force for Anti-Vice, Gaming and Gangsterism were busy over the weekend, shutting down illegal online gambling operations in Kuching and Kuala Lumpur and reporting a significant number of arrests and equipment confiscations.
Nine online gambling venues in Kuala Lumpur were shuttered by police raiding parties on Sunday as part of the ongoing “Operation Dadu”, with police spokesman assistant director Khairi Ahrasa reporting the arrest of 26 individuals, including 11 gamblers.
“Those arrested include four Indonesian men, four Indonesian women and a Bangladeshi man,” the spokesman revealed. “The police teams also 295 laptop computers, a simulator machine, two parang, two knives and three mobile phones.”
The previous day, in Kuching, police raiding parties closed down five online gambling venues, arrested 26 individuals and seized 17 computer sets.
