The prospects for California state Senator Rod Wright’s latest attempt to legalise intrastate sports betting improved Tuesday with an 11-0 vote to progress his bill SB109 by the Senate Governmental Organization Committee.
Hopefully the bill will have better luck than its predecessor – SB1390 – a year ago, which made it through the committee gauntlet and even the state Senate, but ran out of steam in the House .
California will be watching developments in the New Jersey appeal against a ruling halting it from implementing similar legislation after litigation with the national sports leagues .
