Antigua-based online gambling entrepreneur Calvin Ayre has launched a charity proposition to help the shattered island of Barbuda, home to 2,000 people reeling from Hurricane Irma’s recent passage, which has reportedly destroyed 90 percent of the Caribbean island’s buildings and infrastructure.
Ayre has promised that his charitable foundation will match up to a million dollars all donations by the global online gambling industry to Barbuda’s relief effort, in which Ayre is personally involved with his own private donations and organisational assistance.
Antigua and Barbuda was at the centre of online gambling licensing and regulation before US federal anti-online gambling legislation ruined the industry on the island.
Companies wishing make a contribution to the relief effort can do so through Antigua and Barbuda government accounts at the following banks:
Antigua Commercial Bank: Barbuda Relief & Rebuilding Fund account #100004771
Caribbean Union Bank: Barbuda Relief & Rebuilding Fund account #10001372.
Donations can also be made to the Red Cross relief effort by downloading the TickeTingEvents #helpBarbuda app from either the iOS App Store or Google Play, or via the TickeTingEvents website.
Donors can answer the Ayre challenge by emailing a copy of their receipt to Bill@calvinayre.com, and the Calvin Ayre Foundation will add an equivalent amount.
