Donaco International, a land casino operator active in the Cambodian market, has informed shareholders that it is contemplating an entry into the online gambling sector next year, using an online licence awarded to Star Vegas, a company that it acquired last year.
CEO Joey LIm said the project was at the exploratory stage but that he expected progress during the course of 2017.
Donaco certainly has the resources to fund the new venture; last year the company posted a net profit of A$77.2 million, mainly achieved through its acquisition of Star Vegas.
Donaco has some peripheral experience in the online milieu, having acquired an Australian odds comparison site called Way2Bet as part of its takeover of Two Way Limited four years ago.
