Finland’s state-owned and soon-to-be merged gambling interests, which will operate under the single Veikkaus brand from the beginning of next year (see previous report), will be headed by Olli Sarekoski, currently the executive vice president of temporary parent FRV Evo Oy.
Sarekoski has been involved in senior business management at the company for the past eight years, and had prior gaming experience in key operational areas of the company before that, according to a statement released by FRV Evo Oy this week.
His appointment follows a strenuous and detailed evaluation and search for a chief executive for the consolidated group.
Sarekoski’s industry and company experience means he is well suited to lead the company in a competitive digital market where responsible gaming is a key element, and company profits are largely deployed to benefit members of the Finnish public and worthy causes.
At present, FRV Evo Oy has 1.9 million Finnish players, and the company employs some 2,000 people. The merged entities from January 1 2017 are casino operator Raha-automaattiyhdistys (RAY); Veikkaus Oy, the national lottery and betting operator; and Fintoto Oy, the national pari-mutuel operator..
