The UK’s independent Responsible Gambling Strategy Board (RGSB) has contracted the services of Brian Pomeroy as Chair until March 2013 as successor to outgoing Baroness Julia Neuberger whose three year term is coming to an end.
The RGSB works in an advisory capacity to the UK Gambling Commission and in turn, the Government’s Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) on research, education and treatment components of a national responsible gambling strategy.
Pomeroy was a Senior Partner of Deloitte Consulting and is currently a non-executive director of the Financial Services Authority and Deputy Chairman of QBE Insurance Europe Ltd. He was formerly Chairman of the Treasury’s Financial Inclusion Taskforce, the Gambling Commission, the Payments Council, the National Lottery Commission, Centrepoint and Homeless Link and a member of the Disability Rights Task Force and a trustee of Money Advice Trust for which he now acts as an ambassador.
Philip Graf, the Commission Chairman, said “I am most grateful to Brian Pomeroy for his willingness to take over the Chair of RGSB from Julia Neuberger. He brings a clear understanding of the history and challenges facing all those who are focused on reducing gambling related harm and, during a time of change, continuity to build on the achievements of RGSB under Julia.”
