After seven years in the CEO hot seat at Interwetten, Werner Becher has confirmed that he plans to depart the online sports betting operator at the end of 2018, although he has not revealed details on his future plans.
In a LinkedIn post this week Becher confirmed that he had notified the board of his intentions on Wednesday, writing:
“In seven very successful years, we managed together to more than double turnover to Euro 1.5 billion, based on very high profitability. I’m looking forward to ramping up a new challenge in 2019 and Id like to thank everyone at Interwetten for the fun, energy and support provided on this particular journey.”
A new chief executive yet to be identified will lead Interwetten through its launch in Swedens re-regulated market, with the company having been one of the first to apply for a licence ahead of Januarys opening.
Interwetten claims to have around 1.8 million customers in a range of different markets.
