China’s main lotteries continued to generate improved sales in September, according to official Ministry of Finance figures which reported overall sales up 15.1 y-o-y at 36.93 billion yuan (around US$5.56 bllion).
Sports lottery sales delivered the best growth, up 24.4 percent at 19.32 billion yuan, bringing year-to-date numbers to 151.67 billion yuan (US$22.82 billion), an increase of 9.9 percent.
Welfare lottery sales rose 6.5 percent to 17.61 billion yuan, bringing the nine-month to date total to 158.61 billion yuan (US$23.86 billion) – up 4.8 percent compared with the same period last year.
The Fujian province led in terms of sales growth in September – up 200 percent y-o-y, with Guangdong its nearest rival with growth of 21.6 percent but the highest value in sales at almost 4 billion yuan.
Overall lottery sales January to end September across the 31 cities and provinces were up 7.3 percent y-o-y at 310.78 billion yuan (US$46.75 billion).
