The UK land and online gambling group Paddy Power plc has again demonstrated an entertaining insouciance in its latest television advert – an hilarious presentation featuring the political eccentricity of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and his dark plans to support the Sunderland football club and its new manager, the controversial Paolo Di Canio.
In the just short of 1,5 minute ad, which is almost certain to go viral on the internet, Kim Jong Un outlines his plan to ensure Sunderland’s survival in the Premier League. Other highlights include the youthful leader of North Korea and his views on di Canio
Kim Jong Un’s five point plan for Sunderland includes the explosive elimination of Southampton – a reference to the North Korean leader’s pathological hatred of anything with “South” in the title; lighting up the “Stadium of Light” with nuclear radioactivity; goal scorers to adopt the raised arm salute made infamous in recent times by Di Canio, an admitted fascist; a free dog meat pie for every Sunderland fan; and a one moment weeping interlude at Sunderland matches for Maggie Thatcher – demonstrated by footage of hysterical North Korean mourners at another funeral.
