Three Australians and 12 Crown Casinos employees have been formally charged by Chinese authorities after almost seven months in detention (see previous reports).
In a brief statement Tuesday, Crown Casinos said all detained employees, including those on bail, had been charged with the illegal promotion of gambling in China and the case referred to Shanghai’s Baoshan District Court to be heard June 26.
The arrests were part of a Government crackdown on the promotion of gambling, targeting Chinese high rollers deterred by Government action on gambling Mecca, Macau.
