It was crunch time in New Jersey as we went to press this afternoon [European time] with the Lesniak bill seeking to legalise intrastate e-gambling due to go before the state Assembly on what is hoped will be its last lap before the governor’s signature into law.
The bill was meant to go before the House on January 6th, but was omitted from the schedule, deferring debate until January 10th.
A2570 has already survived committee stages and the state senate and now faces debate in the House, with the action due to start this afternoon Eastern Standard Time in the US.
Industry observers will be keenly watching the outcome of today’s political moves, which could herald the first US state to legalise online gambling.
