Czech gambling group acquires Croatian sports betting enterprise

The owner of Croatian sports betting operator Supersport, Danko Ćorić, has sold a controlling interest in the company to Czech gambling group Sazka for an undisclosed consideration.

Detailing the agreement, Sazka said that Supersport has been active in the Croatian online and retail sports betting sector for the past 18 years, and presents Sazka with an opportunity to enter an appealing market in dynamic verticals.

In more recent years Supersport has expanded into online casino and poker operations under licensing that runs through to 2025. The company employs a thousand people and delivers annual revenues around HRK 400 million or about US$ 64.5 million annually, with profits around HRK 170 million.

The Croatian market has become increasingly competitive, impacting Supersports profits as rival Prva Sportska Kladionica vies for market share.
