In an uncertain regulatory environment Czech terrestrial gambling provider Casino Kartác Group has won its case against the Czech Republic’s Ministry of Finance in which it challenged the Government’s award of online fixed-odds betting licences to around five domestic providers but denied the casino group the opportunity to apply for licencing and offer other types of online gaming such as casino games.
According to law firm DLA Piper, the Czech court heard Casino Kartác Group’s challenge which claimed that the Ministry had acted deliberately and had failed to substantiate its inconsistent approach regarding online gaming, an opinion agreed on by the Czech court.

The Czech Republic’s Ministry has back and forthed on the implementation of formal online gambling regulations for some time but confirmed new gambling regulations are in the process of being drafted.
