Despite a proposed 50 percent government tax on Kenya betting companies, online sports betting operator Dafabet is pressing ahead with an ambitious social media, radio and newspaper marketing campaign for its month-old local betting enterprise.
The campaign launched Tuesday, publicising the company’s claim to offer the biggest bets and best odds, live streaming and instant pay-outs.
Observers have noted Kenyan president Uhuru Kenyatta’s comments Monday that the outcry against the massive gambling tax hike has been noted, and his assurance that it is not government’s intention to kill the industry, and that the proposed tax can still be reviewed.
