Using its recently acquired and still relatively rare new Malta skill games licensing, DraftKings launched DFS operations in beta mode in Germany Thursday, offering a wide range of US and European sports, eSports and mixed martial arts action.
In a press release, DraftKings international exec Jeffrey Haas welcomed Germans to the new site, noting their passion for sports. Haas said that there is a wide demand for US sports in the UK and Europe.
“Germans show a proclivity for American sports, particularly the NFL and NBA,” said Haas. “Initial testing in Germany shows that our most popular sport has been the NBA, which is why we are opening our beta test to all German sports fans.”
The German launch follows a UK launch last year as DraftKings expanded its US and Canada activities to Europe, and player liquidity will be shared in all regions
The company recently opened an office on Malta (see previous reports) and observers have noted that the DFS giant appears to have wider Euopean ambitions.
