Just two weeks on from its introduction, H414, a proposal to legalise daily fantasy sports in the state of Kentucky authored by Representative Adam Koenig, failed to progress from the House this week despite a positive 37-36 vote.
The bill did not reach the 40 positive votes required by a state law that a measure must be approved by two-fifths of the 100-member House to send it on to the state Senate.
Prior to the House vote the bill survived two committee stages before failing in the vote on Wednesday.
Koenig said that his intention was to ensure that DFS was legalised through the state legislature and not the subject of an arbitrary opinion by the state Attorney General as has happened in other states.
