Daily fantasy sports is officially permitted in Massachusetts – the eighth US state to approve the vertical.
This week state governor Charlie Brown signed into state law a major economic development bill that included DFS provisions.
The bill was approved by the legislature last week and sent to the governor’s desk; it allows any fantasy sports operator to offer contests with cash prizes, legally, through July 31, 2018, as long as it is in “accordance with regulations promulgated by the Massachusetts Attorney General.”
Our readers may recall that Massachusetts AG Maura Healey was among the first to assemble a regulatory framework for DFS, a format that has since been used by several other enforcement chiefs in their recommendations.
