Today (Thursday) the industry is expecting to see which online gambling companies have managed to secure Danish licensing as that nation’s gambling liberalisation program takes another step forward.
Further details have also emerged on the consequences of the recently announced delays in the Damish Gaming Authority’s ID verification through DanID, which will not be ready in time for the scheduled market opening on January 1st .
In order not to derail the liberalisation process entirely, newly licensed operators have been told that they should process ID verification themselves using commonly used official personal identification documents such as passports and driving licences.
More seriously impacting players and operators alike is a restriction that limits deposits to Danish Kroner 10 000 (around GBP 1,132) and halts withdrawals until such time as DanID gets its act together – hopefully in February 2012.
