This (December) month is a critical time for online gambling group GVC Holdings plc in its bid to acquire rival Bwin.Party Digital Entertainment plc…on December 15 shareholders will gather at an extraordinary general meeting to vote on whether the board should progress the agreements reached by directors of the two companies.
GVC chief executive Kenneth Alexander said this week that he is confident that shareholders will see the value and potential of the acquisition, given GVC’s history of turning around underperforming acquisitions.
In related news, over at Bwin.Party the online gambling group’s director of games, Golan Shaked, has indicated that he will soon leave the company in order to take up a senior executive appointment with an unidentified entertainment streaming group, but that he will be available in a consulting capacity to Bwin until the GVC takeover has been accomplished.
Shaked’s responsibilities will be assumed by long-serving Bwin.Party executive Tom Waters whilst a search for a permanent replacement is conducted, presumably in consultation with GVC.
