The state of Delaware is fast catching up with Nevada and New Jersey in the race to legalise intrastate online gambling. Following the approval of the HB333 legalisation initiative in the state House last week the bill passed a Senate committee Wednesday and is headed for a full Senate vote on June 26.
If that vote is positive the bill, which legalises online poker, slots, table games and keno, along with an expansion in sports betting, will be sent to Gov. Jack Markell for signature. And the governor has been open in his support for the legislation.
Horse racing opponents of the measure failed to stop it progressing on Wednesday, taking an extraordinarily hypocritical and cynical line bearing in mind that that industry has been exploiting the online gambling channel for years, thanks to carve-outs in federal laws.
