Dent backs off on anti-online gambling amendment

Reports earlier this week that Pennsylvania Republican Representative Charlie Dent was planning to attach Restoration of America’s Wire Act language to a major but unrelated spending bill alerted both the public and the political establishment to yet another “stealth” attempt to engineer an online gambling ban in the US.

However, on Thursday industry supporter Michelle Minton, who has been closely monitoring the situation, withdrew the alert, tweeting:

“RAWA rumor mill update: Dent reportedly is no longer planning 2 offer his anti-igambling amendment due to push-back from industry & members.”
