Although he originally wanted to remain anonymous, the Sky Vegas big winner who recently hit a GBP2.64 million progressive jackpot on the Millionaire’s Club slot revealed his identity over the weekend.
Civil servant David Robson, who is still living in his parents’ council house, says he was “just killing half an hour” with a 90p bet that led to his massive win.
The father of one was so shocked he had to call his father from the kitchen to check that the win was real, he revealed in newspaper interviews over the weekend.
“There was a big blue screen saying I had won GBP 2,642,668.61,” Robson, of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, recalled. “It was absolutely unbelievable.”
His jackpot is the biggest single win yet on Sky Vegas.com.
The lucky punter is now planning a holiday to Canada with his partner Nicola – and has handed in his notice at the Driving Standards Agency, where he is an analyst.
The 36-year-old said: ‘I rang my line manager and said unfortunately I wasn’t going to be around for much longer as far as work was concerned. He was quite taken aback and he couldn’t believe it when I told him the reason why.
“I’m just an ordinary guy. I have worked for the DSA since I did my A-levels.”
Robson said he would treat his young daughter to a holiday once school is out and has dreams of watching his favourite team Liverpool in luxury with a box at Anfield. He will also be buying a new house for his parents and a property for himself and other family members.
