Johnny Devitt, Betfair’s director of online marketing for the past year, has been appointed Chief Marketing Officer of the group following a merger of the online marketing and brand director roles on the company executive.
Devitt, a mechanical engineering graduate from University College Dublin in 1998, joined Betfair in 2013 as head of marketing platforms, data and acquisition and moved to director of online marketing in May last year.
In previous management positions Devitt spent 6 years in Paddy Power working in a variety of marketing roles, including head of social and display media and marketing technology, and financial spread betting and CFD management at a time when social media, as well as mobile and display advertising, were fast evolving.
He began his career with PriceWaterhouse Coopers professional business services in a management consulting role, transitioning from this to IT and development for IPSI, a subsidiary of Irish Life and Permanent plc after working as an independent consultant with Internet start-up companies.
