In response to New York State Attorney General Eric Sneiderman’s cease-and-desist order against daily fantasy sports providers DraftKings and Fanduel (see previous reports), the companies filed separate lawsuits Friday in the New York State Supreme Court.
According to the filing, the Court is requested to furnish a declaration on the legality of daily fantasy sports and a determination that the game is one of skill and not chance.
Shortly following news of the filing, FanDuel posted an update to customers Friday saying:
“…it is with great disappointment that we will begin the process of limiting access to users located in New York while we pursue the opportunity to be heard in Court.”
