A bill clarifying the legal status of daily fantasy sports with the addition of consumer protection regulations was passed by the Virginia General Assembly 79-19 earlier this week.
The bill has moved quickly through five Virginia legislative bodies in the last month passing through the Virginia State Senate on a vote in favour of 28-10 just last week.
In addition, beleaguered daily fantasy sports operator FanDuel is upbeat on the prospects of bills in California which passed the State Assembly 68-1, the Indiana State Senate by a vote of 38-11 and the passage of a pair of bills passed by the Florida Senate Regulatory Affairs Committee and the House Finance and Tax Committee.
Still awaiting the outcome of committee hearings on bills in Alabama, Nebraska, Oklahoma and West Virginia, FanDuel said it will continue to work with lawmakers across the US to establish laws that ensure customers are protected.
