The Spanish regulatory authority Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ) said it has analysed and studied the various arguments posed during the open consultation process with regard to the regulation of exchange betting and online casino games, deciding it is prudent to regulate the forms of play in an effort to strengthen its fight against illegal gambling and money laundering.
Exchange betting will be first on the DGOJ’s agenda followed by online slots with the initiation of the preparation of a draft Ministerial Order and regulatory impact analysis. This will be followed by a public inquiry that involves six legislatory steps.
No indication was given as to the proposed time-frame the process would involve.
