Online gambling software developer Playtech plc announced Thursday that as previously indicated in a statement on 29 August 2013, Roger Withers has resigned as a director and retired from the Board.
Withers will be retained by the company as an adviser on industry matters, until the end of September 2014.
Alan Jackson, previously the senior non-executive director of the company, has been appointed non-executive chairman with immediate effect.
Jackson has been a member of the Playtech Board since 2006 and is an experienced non-executive director and chairman. He is currently chairman of The Restaurant Group plc and deputy chairman and senior non-executive director of Redrow plc.
Playtech has additionally appointed Hilary Stewart-Jones as a non-executive director with immediate effect. She will chair the Board’s Risk & Compliance Committee and Remuneration Committee and sit on the Audit Committee.
Stewart-Jones is an international expert in gaming law and has over 15 years’ experience advising companies on gaming related issues. She is a qualified solicitor and will be leaving the partnership of DLA Piper to take up her appointment but will remain a consultant with the firm. Prior to joining DLA Piper, Stewart-Jones spent five years as in-house head of the gambling division at Ladbrokes plc, before joining Berwin Leighton Paisner LLP as a Partner in 2000.
