Whilst online gambling in New Jersey has gone from strength to strength, it is clear that Delaware has not followed suit despite an equal time in the market; for March the state regulator reports that online gambling revenues declined 42 percent year-on-year to a meagre $151,811 on the back of turnover of $8.03 million.
That brings revenues in the first quarter of 2017 to $597,056, a y-o-y drop of 12 percent.
Video lottery games delivered 65 percent of total net revenue at $98,467 (down 36 percent y-o-y); table game revenue fell 48 percent to $35,629, and poker rake and fees fell 53 percent year-on-year to $17,715.
The latter was particularly discouraging, given Delaware’s player pool sharing pact with Nevada.
New player registrations dropped to 252 in March, again illustrating the difficulty of maintaining new player registration levels in a state with a relatively small population of less than a million people (compared to New Jersey’s nine million souls).
