DraftKings acquires Kountermove

Daily fantasy sports giant DraftKings has acquired Kountermove, a provider of combat daily fantasy sports that include MMA, boxing, kickboxing and pro jiu jitsu competitions, for an undisclosed consideration.

The deal significantly expands DraftKings current combat sports offer further advancing its leadership position in the sport, a company statement said.

“The Kountermove team has built a tremendous product with an enthusiastic fan base and we’re excited to grow with them,” Matt Kalish, co-founder and chief revenue officer of DraftKings commented.

Kountermove was co-founded by Brian Knapp and Aaron Ard, two Brazilian black-belt Jiu-Jitsu sparring partners. Our team now joining the leader in daily fantasy MMA is the perfect culmination of our earliest vision,” Knapp said.
