Playtech‘s annual report for 2012 includes information on the progress of the Dutch government towards a regulated online gambling market – a long drawn-out but now seemingly imminent event.
In November last year, the Dutch government announced plans to sell the state-owned Holland casino monopoly and legalise online gaming to increase competition.
“The government is expected to introduce a draft framework for consultation in the spring of 2013 with a finalised law expected to be approved by the end of the year,” the Playtech report notes.
“We anticipate that Playtech and its licensees will seek to benefit from these changes in the Dutch market.”
