A senior Dutch civil servant is to head the Kansspelautoriteit regulator in the Netherlands, responsible for online and land gambling regulatory and licensing matters.
Marja Appelman (41), who has previously served in management capacities in the Dutch Healthcare Authority, the Central Planning Bureau, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Dutch Competition Authority. has been appointed to replace Peter Plug as director with effect from September 23.
Appelman’s last job was as an economist and partner at economic strategy and consulting firm Strategies in Regulated Markets (SiRM).
