Investment bank Evolution Securities analyst James Hollins has tipped outgoing Spirit Group chief executive Ian Dyson as a front runner in Betfair’s search for a new chief to replace David Yu stepping down in October 2012.
“We now view Ian Dyson as the front-runner to take the helm as chief executive of Betfair in the first quarter of 2012.
“We would regard this as a positive catalyst, with the potential, as a turnaround specialist, to drive improved performance from the once well-regarded Betfair,” said Hollins.
Dyson was appointed as an independent non-executive director of Betfair in February 2010 and has held executive positions at Spirit, Marks & Spencer, The Rank Group plc, Hilton Group, Le Meridien and Arthur Andersen.
