In a move to provide basic education and training for employees in the Isle of Man’s expanding e-gaming industry, the government’s Department of Economic Development has partnered with the local Hamblin Employment Group in presenting an educational course on e-gaming.
The first course will be held on the island over three days, starting 21 September, and was constructed following research into what e-gaming companies on the island are specifically looking for in new employees.
The e-gaming sector is the fastest growing sector on the Island which now hosts 25 active licence holders and employs over 600 people in a myriad of different roles, a government spokesperson said this week.
The course consists of four modules designed to increase the participants’ awareness and understanding of the e-gaming sector and how they might position and present themselves to a potential employer.
The Department for Economic Development is funding 50 percent of each of the selected candidate’s course fee for the first three groups, effectively reducing the course fee paid by each candidate to GBP125.
Alex Downie MLC, Department of Economic Development commented: “Not only does this raise the profile of the industry both locally and further afield, but it is also a show of support for our existing employers in the sector and will assist them in increasing their employment of Manx workers.”
