The outcome of a meeting held in June in Barcelona was an agreement to foster operational cooperation between the four European online gaming regulators from France, Italy, Portugal and Spain.
ARJEL, AAMS, Santa Casa Da Misericordia de Lisboa and the DGOJ agreed they share the same objectives in protecting consumers against fraud and criminal activities, preventing addiction, assuring the integrity of the game and fighting illegal gambling.
A regulatory strategy was formed between the four Countries with a view to laying the foundation for information exchange in the case of operators who are licensed in more than one jurisdiction, the fight against illegal operators and improved information on the protection of personal data.
The possibility of a shared liquidity in certain games between some of the four countries was reportedly also on the agenda.
The four regulators intend extending the cooperation to other European countries that share similar regulatory principles and strategies and discussions will move forward in a meeting scheduled to be held in Paris at the end of the year.
