The Dutch Gaming Authority has reached agreement with social network Facebook in a bid to end unlicenced gambling operators advertising their services to Dutch users.
The Kansspelautoriteit said Facebook has agreed to comply with Dutch Law which states that the promotion of illegal gambling is not permissable and that it will block advertisers reported to it by the gambling authority.
Kansspelautoriteit board member Paul Tang said the agreement is “an important step in combating illegal operators and preventing people, especially young people who have easy access to Facebook, in to being duped into participating in illegal gambling. By taking this step, the organisation is showing it takes its social responsibilities seriously.”
