DraftKings, Inc., reportedly the second largest daily fantasy sports company in the United States, has announced a partnership with NFL franchise the Pittsburgh Steelers.
DraftKings will provide fantasy sports competitions and opportunities for fans to engage with the team, including tickets to games, VIP events and experiences as a result of the deal.
Additionally, DraftKings will provide in-stadium fantasy updates and LED signage display, and will be featured on the Steelers’ digital media properties including NFL NOW, the Steelers website and mobile app, the Mike Tomlin Show, Steelers Game Day Pregame Radio and the Steelers Huddle Show.
“Fantasy sports are an increasingly important part of the fan experience for Steelers fans,” said Ryan Huzjak, director of corporate partnerships and sales for the Steelers.
“Our partnership with DraftKings will continue to provide many opportunities to Steelers Nation, and we are excited about moving forward in order to engage our fans with fantasy sports in unique ways.”
“The Steelers are one of the most storied franchises in professional football with an extremely passionate fan base,” said Paul Liberman, co-founder and chief operating officer of DraftKings. “In addition, the Steelers have a very forward-looking way of thinking about technology and partnerships.”
This is the third partnership DraftKings has signed with a professional football franchise; it announced a partnership with the New England Patriots in October, and a partnership with the Denver Broncos in November (see previous reports).
The company recently awarded $1 million prizes on a weekly basis during its Fantasy Football Millionaire series of competitions, and has a budget for prizes this year of over $100 million.
