Daily fantasy sports operator DraftKings continued to expand its sports relationships this week by signing up another national basketball league team in the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Under the terms of the agreement DraftKings will become a presenting sponsor of the TimberWolves Team Stats social media feature and the WolvesCast official team podcasts, with rights to a brand presence at the franchise’s Target Centre home base and access to the team’s webpage for partnerships promotions and further exposure.
A spokesman for the daily fantasy sports provider said that the company plans sweepstakes with VIP tickets, corporate clothing and hospitality rewards as prizes.
Timberwolves executive Ryan Tanke said that many Timberwolves fans are interested in fantasy sports competitions in a rapidly growing industry, and that the agreement with DraftKings opens up wider opportunities for the franchise to engage with its fans.
The deal with the Timberwolves is the fourth partnership entered into by DraftKings; it has similar agreements with the Philadelphia 76ers, Boston Celtics and Houston Rockets, along with other arrangements with NFL franchises New England Patriots and Denver Broncos, and with the American ice hockey league (see previous reports).
