The first licence to operate online gambling in Jersey has been granted.
The Jersey Gambling Commission issued the licence to provider Twelve40, with conditions attached including a duty to manage problem gambling.
It follows the issuing of a number of licences in neighbouring Channel Islands Alderney and Guernsey.
The commission said changes to UK gambling laws had led to “renewed interest in Jersey as a venue for online gambling”.
The e-gambling industry contributes about £50m to the Bailiwick of Guernsey’s economy, according to the Alderney Gambling Control Commission.
