Five arrested in Malaysian online gambling bust

Malaysian police in the Kota Tinggi region caught five men red-handed gambling over the internet when they staged an early morning raid on an illegal gambling venue over the weekend.

Police  Anti -Vice, Gambling and Secret Societies division head  Deputy Superintendent Mohammad Abdul Hamid told The Straits Times that a week of investigation and surveillance had preceded the raid after police received a tip-off.

The Indonesian operator of the establishment was the subject of a raid earlier this year in which seven computers were seized, exacerbating his offence.

Police were also active in the Jalan Niaga area, where a 35-year-old man was arrested and 15 computers were seized in another internet gambling-related raid..
