Sportech PLC’s former chief operating officer Ian Hogg has been named as one of several suitors angling for ownership of Sportech’s Football Pools business (see previous reports).
A Sunday Times report indicated Hogg intends raising around GBP 100 million through a stock market flotation of the Football Pools business to fund the acquisition should his bid be successful.
Sportech was formerly an electronics company named Rodime PLC which after acquiring Littlewoods Pools in 2000 for GBP 160 million rebranded as Sportech PLC.
Under its Littlewoods Pools brand, Sportech went on to acquire Zetters Football Pools in 2002 for GBP 1.35 million followed by Vernons Pools from Ladbrokes in 2007. The three brands merged to become The Football Pools.
