The name Preet Bharara usually evokes memories of the online poker indictments and Department of Justice enforcement actions on Black Friday back in 2011, when the former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York led prosecutors in a drive that resulted in the expensive shuttering of the main online poker sites serving the US market.
Preet himself became a political casualty earlier this year when the Trump administration took power in the United States, and the new US Attorney General, Jeff Sessions, asked him to step down. Bharara refused to do so, but was ultimately discharged from his duties.
Bharara has started a new career as a legal analyst for cable news station CNN in the Times Warner group, and appears alongside presenter Jake Tapper on Sunday morning’s the “State of the Union” television show.
