Interactive games developer acquired by Novomatic

News on 14 Feb 2012

The giant Austrian gambling equipment and games supply group Novomatic has acquired internet games software developer Mazooma along with the UK’s largest gaming machine operator Gamestec, Bell-Fruit Games and RLMS, according to a report on the Intergame website.

Novomatic already owns the Greentube online games development company in its native Austria, and the latest moves are seen as continuing evidence of the convergence of land and online interests, although the repercussions from the deal in a commercial sense are mainly centred on the land gambling sector.

Intergame reports that the UK Office of Fair Trading is to investigate the deal, which is expected to be cleared in around six to eight weeks.

Mazooma Interactive offers popular games content and has a wide range of top online gambling operators on its client list.

Gamestec and Novomatic have enjoyed a fruitful partnership following the announcement over a year ago that the two companies would collaborate on a new digital product portfolio .

Leeds-based Gamestec revealed that it was partnering with Astra Games Limited, a subsidiary of Austrian Gaming Industries (AGI) and part of the Novomatic Group, to launch its Gamestec Digital division.
