Parties reportedly exploring the possibility of a Europe and Asian facing, real-money online gambling enterprise.
The Irish Times reported Thursday that Dermot Smurfit’s GamingAccount (GAN) is currently exploring the set-up of a Europe and Asian-facing, real-money online gambling enterprise for an unnamed US casino operator.
The talks are apparently at “an advanced level” and will involve basing the proposed business away from America, where the difficult legislative and political regime discourages many would-be online gambling operators.
Our readers will recall that GAN has made some inroads into the US market with its Simulated Gaming product, through which it has established links with over a dozen US land casino operators interested in using it as a promotional vehicle in preparation for a possible legalisation of online gaming in the US at some stage.
GAN CEO Dermot Smurfit has claimed that he has held talks with several US land casinos with revenues of more than $1 billion.
He expects the new collaboration to bear fruit later this year, but refuses to identify the potential US partner, saying only that if the deal is successful GAN would supply the technology, the games and the licenses to the US operator, which would then incorporate its own branding on the service and target only countries outside the US where online gambling is legal.
“We can provide access to countries where there are regulated markets covering 29 percent of the world’s population,” said Smurfit. “This is a big strategic move for us. The market hasn’t yet seen a major US land casino enter online in Europe.”
