The UK online gambling group Sportingbet plc has reported a strong performance during the World Cup in June-July, recording over GBP50 million in bets and margins boosted by a number of results going against the favourites during the global football championship.
A notable feature was that an impressive 65 percent of bets were made during matches using the company’s “in-play” betting facilities.
“The strong World Cup performance underpins the fourth quarter trading results and the board remains confident that the group will meet management expectations for the financial year just ended,” Sportingbet said in a statement Thursday.
The Sportingbet statement said it the group had continued to perform in line with management expectations throughout the final quarter of the year.
