The Georgia state Senate Regulated Industries Committee has advanced a proposal from the House to regulate, licence and tax online fantasy sports activity in the state, with senators voting unanimously Thursday to approve House Bill 118.
The proposal came forward again after failing to make it through the legislature last year, and makes provision for consumer protection, responsible gaming and fair play, imposing an age limit of 18 years on players.
The committee agreed with the very reasonable 6 percent of GGR state tax rate proposed for DFS operators.
Nineteen US states have now passed DFS legalisation measures.
