The Indian province of Sikkim, the first to legalise online gambling in the country, has awarded an online gambling licence to Golden Gaming International, a company based in the province.
In a press release this week the company advises that it has launched online games and betting operations within Sikkim borders, and has “redesigned” an 8,000 square foot property in the capital Gangtok to offer gaming kiosks and a sports betting zone.
Manoj Sethi, director of Golden Gaming International Pvt. Ltd. said, “Our venture is the first such initiative in the country which will bring fiscal revenues to the state of Sikkim as well as provide employment to local youth and establishment of self-sustenance counters.
“Recently, even the Justice Lodha committee report has asked state governments to legalise gambling. I think all other state governments should also study the unique model created by the Sikkim government and legalise, regulate and license gambling and betting.”
