Greek members of parliament were briefed Tuesday on the difficulties of tracking down and taking action against unlicensed online gambling operators by Evgenios Giannakopoulos, the president of the Committee of Surveillance and Control of Gaming.
Companies involved in unlicensed gambling in Greece earn about Euro 7 billion a year in revenues that are not taxed, resulting in the loss of millions of Euros for the government’s coffers, Giannakopoulos claimed.
He said that tracking down the illegal gaming was a very difficult task but suggested that his committee might begin getting results in about six months time.
