International Game Technology plc has announced that it has started to offer content from the legacy GTech game portfolio on its social gaming app, DoubleDown Casino, with the launch Tuesday of the originally Boss Media Treasures of the Pyramids slot for mobile and desktop.
Our readers will recall that Boss Media was acquired by GTech in 2008. GTech and IGT merged under the IGT brand earlier this year in a $6.4 billion deal.
“Launching our first legacy GTech title on DoubleDown Casino establishes a significant milestone for the new IGT, showcasing our combined strengths from the two legacy organizations,” said Joe Sigrist, DoubleDown Interactive SVP in a company statement.
“Treasures of the Pyramids is a well-known, top-performing title [and] leveraging its popularity provides our social players with more engaging content.”
Treasures of the Pyramids features an Egyptian-themed symbol set with a familiar base game and bonus mechanics. Its five-reel, 40-payline configuration displays the legacy title’s iconic wild panther symbol spread across two reels, and can give players the chance to trigger 100 free games in the bonus round with a variety of multipliers.
In related news, unconfirmed rumour is that IGT stopped supporting original Boss Media-GTech games at all operators except GVC Holdings’ Casino Club at the end of November, ending in some cases supporting and update services that have been in place since the early days of the industry.
IGT has not yet commented on the rumour.
