GVC Holdings has announced the release on an exclusive basis to Danske Spil of a new slot developed by its in-house team and themed on Denmark’s most successful ever pop act, Aqua, who shot to fame with their 1997 smash hit and all round ear-worm, Barbie Girl.
Launching simultaneously on desktop and mobile, the new Aqua game features band favourites Lene Nystrøm and René Dif, along with clips from their classic hits including Dr Jones, Turn Back Time and of course Barbie Girl – which helped to sell over 33 million albums and singles worldwide.
The 5 reel game incorporates a progressive jackpot element and is the latest in a series of online casino games that GVC has built exclusively for Danske Licens Spil, based on popular Danish themes. Previous titles have been themed around rock bands D-A-D and Shu-Bi-Dua, as well as on Danish cinema hits, Olsen Banden and Klovn.
Søren Schneider, head of gaming for Danske Licens Spil said in a statement Friday:
“These titles offer our customers something totally unique in the Danish market and are amongst our most popular games. We will continue to differentiate our product offering with local exclusive themes to give us an advantage in a highly competitive market.”
Liron Snir, GVC’s chief product officer added:
“Our aim is to supply our partners with the best online gaming platform in the market. Whilst the quality of our gaming systems are well known, we are genuinely excited to demonstrate our ability to deliver high quality, original gaming content.”
